Smart-CleanTM is an automated cleaning system that controls dust collector pulsing valves to activate (be fired) on an "as needed" basis. It senses the proper time that pulsing should occur, rather than just pulsing at timed intervals, thus reducing efficiency due to loss of filter cake (which acts as an extension to the cartridge). This system has shown dramatic reduction in unnecessary pulsing of the filter media, which reduces the consumption of compressed air (from 30% -70%). The elimination of this over-cleaning of the media makes the filtration process more efficient as well as increase the life of the filter media.

Smart-Clean senses the difference in pressure (DP) across the filter media using an electronic pressure module built into the control board. The heart of the Smart-CleanTM System is the Set Up Panel (see other side for close up picture). Using the Set Up Panel, the user inputs the upper and lower limits of pressure at which he wishes the unit to operate. These limits can be determined once an initial test period has been run to find the "normal range" of operation for the unit. This procedure is explained in the instruction manual.

When the DP across the media reaches a point above or below the limits, the pulse jet cleaning system starts, continuing to pulse until the pressure falls back to the low limit of the "normal range". At the same time, Smart-Clean's alarms will illuminate (flashing red strobe light), alerting the operator if pressure falls excessively high or low from the "normal range" (as set by setting "High Alarm" and "Low Alarm" levels). Pressures out of the " normal range" may indicate trouble with the filter media. See the installation and operation manual for additional information.

  Definitions of Indicators Indicator

Indicator

PROCESS The current pressure drop across the media
TIME OFF The number of seconds between cleaning pulses
TIME ON The number of milliseconds that the cleaning valve is on
HIGH LIMIT The upper limit of the delta pressure across the media
LOW LIMIT The lower limit of the delta pressure across the media
HIGH ALARM If pressure rises above this level, ALARM is activated (see below)
LOW ALARM If pressure drops below this level, ALARM is activated (see below)
CYCLE DUTY not used
DOWN TIME CYCLES not used
AUTO ALARM RESET Resets ALARM unless fault continues
